Turbo & Long Spec with Original Look: VMAX Custom
ESPER's V-MAX
Here is a VMAX (1200) custom by ESPER. This VMAX has some one-off parts for installing a turbo system, rear wheel modification, swingarms, etc. Modified VMAX1700's parts are installed on the shaft drive. On the other hand, the exterior from the headlight to the tail and the front forks are remained to be stock, which is part of the owner's concept of not losing the stock image.
The owner wanted to increase the rear wheels on this VMAX from the stock 15 inches to 16 inches and install tires that were close to the stock height. After all, the wheels has been replaced with 8J (8 inches wide) car wheels and 240/55 motorcycle tires, which are as tall as the stock ones. The front has a design similar to the rear, with the same 18 inches diameter and 130mm width as the stock. The turbo is directed to the right turbine for the two cylinders on the right side and to the left turbine for the two cylinders on the left side. The engine itself was raised to 1400 cc, with a boost of 0.8kg/cm2 and 240 hp at the rear axle.
Handle
The layout of the visor and meter case shows you the owner's concept to retain the stock image of the exterior. The left and right master cylinders are replaced with Brembo RCS.
The gauges are stock, with a STACK tach timer embedded in the center case where the speedometer goes, and a boost gauge added to the right. Race Tech's water and oil temperature gauges are set on the front side of the louver-type dummy tank cover. The steering damper is Hyper Pro's product. Seat has also been processed internally.
Engine
Displacement of the 70-degree V4 engine has been enlarged to 1400cc and turbocharged while retaining the BDS 35 x 4 carburetor.
The exhaust air from the two cylinders on the left side and the two cylinders on the right side of the V4 are combined and sent to a turbine located behind the bike body on the same side (left side in the photo) to compress the fresh air.
The compressed fresh air passes through the intercooler behind the tail cowl, where it is cooled to improve filling efficiency, and then passes forward through pipes like exhaust pipes located under the left and right sides of the engine to enter the surge tank inside the dummy tank. The pipes were placed outside to reinforce the impression of an air-cooled four-cylinder motorcycle. Additional injectors has been placed next to the carburetor. It recorded 240ps at 0.8kg / cm2 boost.
Chassis
The front forks are the stock VMAX1200 forks (Φ40mm) with internal modifications including springs. The front brakes are a combination of Brembo calipers and Sunstar discs. The front wheel is Performance Machine 18 inches and the front tire is Shinko Tourmaster 110 / 90-18.
The rear is a one-off long version. The stabilized swingarm with Quantum shocks. The rear tire is Bridgestone Exedra 240/55R16.
The rear 16 inches wheel, which was the starting point of the project, is originally for car use. The differential for the shaft drive is a modified version of the one for VMAX1700.
The ESPER rearset is also serves as a mount for the exhaust pipe. The stock tail cowl is modified to be short.
